(By Kathy Nash) A wonderful awards night was held on Tuesday, May 5, at St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church, as the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation celebrated its annual Night of Giving.

Throughout the year, The Community Foundation raises money to give back to the local community. This year, the organization awarded $75,000 during the evening event. The funds supported 19 scholarships and increased funding for an endowment at FSW, as well as benefiting the Estero Island Historical Society, Keep Lee County Beautiful, Friends of Lovers Key, Bay Oaks Recreational Center, Ostego Bay Summer Camps, Support for Sailing, The Mound House, Beach Kids Foundation, Estero Bay Buddies, the FMB Art Association, and the FMB Chamber of Commerce Water Foundation.
The Community Foundation also made several donations throughout the year, including contributions to the VFW, Ronald McDonald House, CROW on Sanibel, and Friends of the Library. Additionally, members donated gift cards to ACT (Abuse Counseling & Treatment, Inc.), an organization the Foundation has proudly supported for many years.

The Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation is always accepting new members. Learn more at Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation.
