Bahama Beach Club, with a history spanning more than 50 years, will celebrate a major milestone in its rebuilding journey tomorrow morning at 8:30. The first homes will be set into place at 5370 Estero Boulevard. Beach Talk Radio will be there to broadcast the event live.

Unlike a traditional groundbreaking ceremony, Bahama Beach Club’s event will celebrate the arrival and placement of the community’s first modular homes as they are flown into place by crane — a powerful and emotional moment symbolizing resilience, recovery, and the continuation of a legacy deeply rooted in Fort Myers Beach history.

Originally established in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Bahama Beach Club became known for its intimate beachfront charm and colorful bungalow-style homes that welcomed generations of families, owners, and vacationers to the island year after year. Hurricane Ian devastated the community on September 28, 2022, destroying the property but never diminishing the spirit and determination of the people committed to rebuilding it.

“While many projects begin with a ceremonial groundbreaking, ours is something uniquely special,” said Joy Barrett, Bahama Beach Club Association president. “Construction has already been happening off-site for months, and now we finally get to watch the first homes come back to Fort Myers Beach. For our owners and families, this is more than construction — it is the return of a place filled with decades of memories and traditions”

The new Bahama Beach Club was intentionally designed to honor the charm and character of the original 1970s bungalow-style community while building stronger and more resilient homes for future generations. The colorful coastal architecture reflects the timeless spirit of Old Florida and the unique beauty of Fort Myers Beach.

The rebuilding effort is being made possible through the collaboration and dedication of an incredible team of partners, including:
• Millworth Perkins Construction
• Studio AD Architects
• Pope Mazzara & Menendez
• Jim Ink Engineering
• Sanibel Captiva Community Bank
• And 22 excited and committed owners whose perseverance and shared vision made rebuilding possible.

Community members, media, partners, and supporters are invited to attend and witness this exciting milestone as Bahama Beach Club continues its journey home.
