The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife has added two new volunteer orientation sessions, giving community members more opportunities to get involved in local wildlife conservation.
Volunteer orientations will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, and Wednesday, Sept. 2, at CROW’s Visitor Education Center on Sanibel Island. CROW is recruiting volunteers for a variety of roles throughout the nonprofit organization, with an immediate need in the Visitor Education Center gift shop.
Gift shop volunteers greet visitors, complete tour sign-ups, answer questions, and help guests discover unique wildlife-inspired merchandise, from plush snakes and owl gifts to artwork, books, apparel, and more. Every purchase supports CROW’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native wildlife.
Additional volunteer opportunities include rescuing wildlife, transporting injured animals, cleaning rehabilitation enclosures, feeding baby patients, doing laundry and dishes, grazing gopher tortoises, supporting special events, and performing general maintenance. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Volunteer orientation is required for all volunteers and includes an introduction to CROW’s mission and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Wildlife Hospital.
