On Friday the comeback of Fort Myers Beach from Hurricane Ian hit another milestone with the official groundbreaking of the pier. Lee County owns the pier and hosted the event at Crescent Park.

The pier is expected to be open by the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Ian, September 20, 2027.
