Margaritaville hosted a Celebration of Life for Fort Myers Beach resident Bryan Thomas on Wednesday. Over 100 people attended to share their thoughts about their friend and to give Dawn Thomas a big hug. Thomas passed away last month at the young age of 62.

About the gathering Wednesday night, Dawn said, “Bryan loved the people of Fort Myers Beach. What he loved best was your neighbor could be a billionaire, a plumber, a teacher – anything- and everyone just wears flip flops and t shirts. And everyone is friendly and the same. Just good people everywhere.”

A Celebration of Life was also held in Thomas’ hometown of Chicago where about 800 people attended.

In addition to being a regular at every beach event, Thomas was a member of the audit committee and the 2026 Charter Review Commission.
The Thomas’ were very involved in the beach community, especially with the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club. Dawn is the past President of the Woman’s Club board and is currently the co-chair of the Capital Campaign to rebuild the Woman’s clubs new building. She is also on the town’s Public Safety committee. Dawn told us Wednesday that she plans to make Fort Myers Beach her permanent home.
