Rescued Manatee Hit By Boat Dies

On Saturday, September 5th, The Lee County Sheriff and Florida Fish and Wildlife rescued a full grown manatee after it was struck by a boat not too far from Snug Harbor restaurant. The manatee, named Maelee, did not survive her injuries and passed away on Sunday.

The 1,000 pound manatee was taken to Zoo Tampa where they were rehabilitating her.
