The Fort Myers Beach Lions Club held its annual donation event last week and for the first time since COVID-19 hit it was held in person. The 2021 event was held at Bonita Bill’s.
Even though the club has not been able to put on its main fundraising event (The Shrimp Festival) for two years, it still managed to make significant donations to the community.
The club thanked Mary from the Nauti Parrot, Tim and Cyndee from Roar Off Shore and others for helping to make that possible.
Among the recipients at this year’s event were the Lee County School Nurses program, the Golisano Hospital for Children, Renee’s Closet, Ostego Bay, Troop 101 Boy Scouts, and Fort Myers Beach Little League. Also, nine scholarships were given out to a group of students pursuing second level educational courses.
The Lions Club Shrimp Festival will take place in March of 2022 the planning for the event is underway. As always, the club is eager to welcome new members as well as those willing to help the club by volunteering their time for events like the Shrimp Festival. And of course, the club is always ready to accept donations. 100% of all moneys donated to the club go back to the community.
