Ex-Squids-It-Eats provided nearly 400 free meals to the Fort Myers Beach community Sunday on The Gulfside 12 property. The South End of Fort Myers Beach is still without a restaurant as Santini Plaza continues to work through its rebuild from Hurricane Ian.
Ex-Squids owner Amanda Maddison told Beach Talk Radio News she just wanted to give back to the community. “We live in Cape Coral and started a new business in March of this year. Our food boat Ex-Squids-It Eats sits at Picnic Island every weekend. Those in this community support us with their business and we want to support them back. Not everyone has the capability to feed hundreds of people quickly and efficiently. We have taken our time, our food supply, and our money to stock a trailer that we didn’t have before this past Friday to help those in need. Some people lost everything, some lost all of their food. Some live paycheck to paycheck and because of Helene and Milton they don’t have a next paycheck coming. No we are not made of money but I would hope if we needed it someone would be there to help us.”

Gulfside 12 Rep Tom Kiddy tells us they are working on a similar event for this Sunday. When that’s confirmed we will share the details on our Facebook page.
Big shout-out to Mike and Dawn Miller, owners of The Whale and Sandy Bottom for helping set up the free meal day.
Thanks Dawn and Mike for helping these special folks find a place to set up! Food was great. Even if you don’t need a free meal, enjoy their hospitality then donate back to them on their website!
