Debris Finally on The Way Out

There’s been a lot of chatter in the community about the huge Estero Island Beach Club debris piles on Estero Boulevard since the buildings were demolished back in April.  Here’s the latest.

The three buildings, located next door to DiamondHead Beach Resort on Estero Boulevard were destroyed by Hurricane Ian. They were demolished several months after the storm. However, according to the EIBC association, there was a misunderstanding with the demo contractor about who was supposed to remove the debris piles, which, in addition to concrete, wood, rebar and shattered glass, included beds, toilets and personal belongings.

The EIBC Association told us this week that a new contractor began work separating the various materials…wood, concrete, furnishings, etc….. into stacks so that they could then be loaded into dump trucks and hauled to the appropriate areas for disposal.

The EIBC debris piles received so much attention, not only because the debris piles sat for so long but because DiamondHead Resort became the main hub for activity on the island. They became a daily eyesore for everyone to see in addition to blocking the view to the beach.
