Ron Fleming has officially filed to run for another four year term as Fort Myers Beach Fire District Commissioner. The Delmar Avenue resident was first elected back in 2020.

There are two seats up for election on the Fire District Board; Fleming’s and Larry Wood’s seat. Wood announced he would not be running again. The only other name we hear being rumored to run is Keran Farrell who has not confirmed or denied he’d be running. Farrell currently serves on the Fort Myers Beach Public Safety Committee.

Fleming said, “I am a candidate so that I may continue to ensure fire and life safety of FMB residents and everyone who is here.”

Top vote getters for Fire District Commissioner are elected to the Board. It’s a non-partisan race.

The three other seats, occupied by Chairman John Bennett, Jim Knickle and Jacki Liszak are not up again until 2026.

  1. I’m pleased Mr Fleming is running for reelection. He was the only one to vote no on conducting the study to merge. He is adamant against the forced elimination of our fire department. My right to vote for my elected representatives for the fire department would be taken from me and all of us who live within the department’s boundaries. A local state rep wants exactly that. Vote Fleming
