Can You Believe It’s Been Two Years?

On Saturday, September 28th it will have been 2 years since Hurricane Ian ripped through Southwest Florida, slamming Fort Myers Beach with catastrophic winds and massive storm surge. One week from tomorrow, there will be no looking back, only looking forward.

We are hosting a free lunch for residents and survivors of the storm at The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina at 12:30. To everyone that reserved a seat when we announced the luncheon back in July, all you need to do is show up. The dress code is beachy. If you’re unsure if you’ve reserved a spot, please call or text me at 239-247-3833.

We would like everyone who comes to the event to bring a picture. Bring any picture of Fort Myers Beach that you would like. Under the picture write a one sentence message. We are going to tack all the pictures onto a big board and create one large picture that we can share with everyone after the event. The board will be called: “Why The Future of Fort Myers Beach is So Bright”

There will be no guest speakers. This is a time for everyone to spend a little quiet time with each other and talk to one another about the future, the rebuild of Fort Myers Beach. Hugging is allowed.

The lunch was paid for by Beach Talk Radio followers. There will also be a cash bar.

  1. “No, looking back, only looking forward,” we need to learn from our mistakes in the past, many were lax during Ian because Irma put us in that sense of it not being bad. We need to remember and learn from the past while moving forward, not have it where we dont look back at all while cementing over the island
