After nearly two-and-a-half years of being closed, the Fort Myers Beach Library re-opened Sunday with a big celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony. About 400 people attended the 4-hour event that included tours of the library, food trucks and live music.

Operations Manager Lizbeth Mullenax said, “I was very happy with the way the opening panned out, it was wonderful to see so many of our community members on hand for our grand re-opening. We are thrilled to be back open and serving the community once again.”

Event organizer and Friends of The Library member Jan Fleming said, “We couldn’t be happier with the turnout and all of the kind words spoken, and it was so heartwarming to see the number of people who attended. There were smiles and some tears all around.

With every opening, FMB moves forward one day at a time. We’re coming back.”

  1. So happy to have our wonderful FMB Public Library back open! The reopening of this community hub is a big milestone in the island’s recovery. Leroy & Mitch are smiling down on us.

  2. The grand re-opening was awesome. So many people worked very hard to pull this together; thanks to each and every one of them for their service. It felt great to be in familiar surroundings and see so many of our island neighbors and meet new people. Congrats and thanks to everyone who contributed to this great success.

  3. Another great example of FMB spirit and determination. If you want something done call Jan. No one works harder for all the non profits and town commitments.
