SanCap Bank has opened a temporary office at 100 Lovers Lane on Fort Myers Beach that will be open every Wednesday from 9:30AM to 2PM. This is the only bank open on the entire island. SanCap is planning to build a new bank on Estero Boulevard by next year.
It was announced in 2024 that SanCap Bank had purchased a .41 acre piece of land located at 2670/2680 Estero Boulevard. The sale price for the property, located across the street from the library, was $1.795 million. Prior to Hurricane Ian the building on that lot was a real estate office with a vacation rental above the office.
SanCap said they had originally planned to break ground on the new bank some time in early 2025 and be open in 2026. That timeline has changed according to the banks marketing firm. No new ground breaking date was provided as of this week.
The new branch will feature a fully staffed, state-of-the-art banking facility and will include onsite lenders, drive-thru services, ATMs and conference space. Local architect Joyce Owens is designing the building.
So excited to finally having a bank on the island again. And Debbie Moneyham, previously with BB&T at the beach branch, will be back on the island at the SanCap branch. It was always great to work with her. I’ll be checking out the temporary facility and very likely transferring my banking back to the beach.
Not very friendly when we stopped in on Winkler to see what their deposit/mm/cd rates were. They seemed almost insulted that we asked. We’ll see what their attitude is when they get to the Beach.

This is a great bank. They expand carefully. Looking forward to their temporary and permanent locations. It’s about time our island had not only a bank, but a local one.
I agree. It makes a difference to have corporate headquarters based locally so decisions are made by people who truly understand our communities and our needs.
