And that check presentation for $13,500 was made on Beach Talk Radio this past Saturday at Pete’s Time Out. Tim and Cyndee Hill handed over the check to several members of the Lions Club on Episode #189 of our show.

Lions Club President Drew Yelle told Beach Talk Radio News the Club wanted to sincerely thank the Roar Offshore team for the generous donation. “It was an even bigger success this year, folks had a great time, and the Lions are proud to be a part of it. We can’t thank Tim and Cyndee enough for their continued support of the Lions and for the Fort Myers Beach community.”

The Fort Myers Lions Club embrace the Five Pillars of Service: Vision, Hunger, Diabetes, Cancer, Environment. The money will directly help club initiatives to provide vision exams and glasses to all students in Lee County schools, holiday meals for families, diabetes awareness and educational scholarships.

Roar Offshore President Tim Hill. “Last year the FMB Lions club shrimp festival was one of, if not, the first large event to be cancelled due to the pandemic.  Four months later, our event, Roar Offshore FMB Powerboat Races, fell victim to the to same circumstances. With the cancellation of ROS we decided to create the Roar Offshore Poker Run and hold this event in place of the races. When we created the event we knew we would be able to raise some money through a charity auction of items donated by sponsors and friends.  That auction generated $7k for the Lions club last year. With the event being such a success last year we knew that the ROS Poker Run was going to become a staple in the Poker Run scene and piggy backed it with the races this year holding it the weekend after the races. With the Shrimp Festival once again being cancelled due to the pandemic in 2021 we once again designated them our charitable organization. The FMB Lions club helped us tremendously with volunteers for both the races and the poker run. With the generators supper of our sponsors and Poker Run Teams we where able to raise $13,500 for the Lions.”
