The permits are in, the staff has been hired, the new paint job has been applied and the doors are now open. The newest restaurant on Fort Myers Beach is called The Rude Shrimp Company and it’s ready to serve you.

Owners TJ Holzapfel, and his wife Lisa purchased the former Edelweiss Burger location on Estero Boulevard behind Yo’ Taco and Shrimp is their specialty.

TJ, who loves to cook, started out on a food truck, then moved to a shipping container in a small town in Nebraska. The husband and wife duo wound up in Florida after a short stint in Jacksonville after college. They loved the state, took a tour of Florida, and fell in love with Fort Myers Beach. After seeing that the Edelweiss business was for sale they jumped on it as quickly as they could.

They hosted a soft opening for friends and family last Saturday night before they opened to the public. Lisa tells Beach Talk Radio News it allowed their team to figure out the lay of the land and get one night under their belts. The day they opened, like most young people do, they posted constant updates on social media.

TJ tells us they are now easing their way into a full blown schedule so they aren’t quite yet running at their intended normal hours. “We are working on getting everyone up to speed, making sure our supply chain is buttoned up, and working out a few other logistics. Being new, a lot of people still don’t know we are here.”

They both say the feedback so far has been very good. “Lots of positive feedback and support from both the locals and tourists. Our cuisine is new and different and seems to be well received and appreciated.”

And that menu includes: Garlic Shichimi Chicken, RUDE Shrimp Tacos, and Mandoo. You can check out their entire menu HERE.

We asked TJ and Lisa to tell us what they would like the Fort Myers Beach and surrounding communities to know about The Rude Shrimp Company. “That we are stoked to be a part of Fort Myers Beach. Please stop by to say hi and give our little slice of Aloha a try! We promise you unique and flavorful food, delicious drinks, and a fun vibe that will make you want to come back for.”

They are planning to be open Wednesday-Sunday for lunch and dinner with hours of 11:30AM-9PM.
