On Monday Council member Scott Safford said he was getting bombarded with texts and e-mails about the town’s utility bill software and people were worried there water was about to be turned off. Later in the day the town sent out a clarification on their new system.
Here’s the full town letter the town sent out:
On July 1, 2025, the Town of Fort Myers Beach transitioned to a new Utilities Billing System, Continental Utility Solutions. Our previous system is no longer accepting payments. If you were previously signed up for autopay, you will need to do so again on our new system, Continental Utility Solutions. Please follow the below steps to register and sign up for autopay:
- Go to www.fmbgov.com/Utilities
- Create ‘Create a new account’ under ‘Online Bill’
- Click ‘Register Here’
- Follow the steps to create a new account using your FMB Utilities Account Number
- Once your account is created, it will bring you to a screen that asks, ‘Do you want to sign up for auto pay?’ Follow the steps to do so.
Utility bills will be going out this week. Please know your water will not be shut off, as the Town is dedicated to working with our residents while we navigate this transition.
For more information or questions, please contact our utilities department at (239) 463 – 9914 or visit our website at http://www.fmbgov.com and click on the teal sand dollar labeled “Utilities”.
If we only had Lee County running this town………
The instructions were on the Town’s site weeks ago, but the site was a bit squirrely. It was a confusing transition, but the auro pay is now working fine.
They have email and text to inform customers. I for one don’t have much reason to visit the town’s website…ever.
Nice going town management! After such a long period of not informing residents of what you were doing, finally enough people bombarded Saffords email for them to inform people a change was made after months of sitting on the information.
