Known for his smiling face, his funny hats and his incredible magic, Mike Yost died from a heart attack Thursday. Mike’s friend Chris Stalbaum shared the news of Mike’s passing Thursday afternoon.
The outpouring of love for Mike on social media yesterday rolled in quickly. Former Mayor Anita Cececeda: “Heartbreaking. What a lovely person. Prayers for his family.” La Ola owner Tom Houghton: “Mike was a great guy. We’ve been friends since I moved here 18 years ago.” Fort Myers Beach Town Council Member Karen Woodson: “So very very sad. Rest in peace, Mike. You will be missed.” The Whale and Sandy Bottom Managing Partner Greg Von Krumreig: “Mike Yost was that guy that could make anyone smile. It was hard to be around him and not be laughing. He will be sorely missed and FMB entertainment won’t be the same.” Friend Lori Callahan: “Heartbroken over this. Taken way too young. FMB can’t ever be the same without Mike Yost.”
Mike appeared on Beach Talk Radio too many times to count, dating back to the days when we first started the program at table 23 at Pete’s Time Out. He always came with a funny hat and always with a different trick up his sleeve.
Once we know when and where services will be held for Mike we will pass them along.
Ed, he collapsed in my arms that morning, called EMS and they got him to hospital, it was cardiac arrest…his worst aneurysm towards spine. He was love of my life and I miss him every second. Life for myself and beach will never be the same. 😪💔
RIP Magic Mike, thank you for being my shining star in life from the moment I met you. We were pretty much joined at the hip for a few years and I have a so many great memories from our friendship. All of them put a smile on my face when I think of you, I will miss you more than you know. Your sis from another miss, Angel Wilson
