Lee County reported that the preliminary resort tax collected for January was $5.17 million. That’s a 21% increase over January 2023. We asked Lee County for the Fort Myers Beach contribution but were told the numbers are only broken out at the end of a fiscal year.
The fiscal year-to-date preliminary tourist tax collections are $14,013,635, an increase of 15.3% over the previous year.
TDC funds are collected from short-term rental stays in all of Lee County. For years before Hurricane Ian, Fort Myers Beach was the top collector of TDC funds.
I would like to know if 2024 figures surpassed January 2022’s revenue. January 23 so soon after Ian isn’t a fair comparison.
