The 85th annual Sanibel Shell Show begins Thursday and runs through Saturday. The hours of the show are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM March 3rd and 4th and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM March 5th.

The Shell Show and Festival is held at the Community House on Sanibel (2173 Periwinkle Way). There is a $5 suggested donation to enter the inside Shell Show. Free parking is across the street.

The Annual Sanibel Shell Festival is the world’s longest running shell festival and this coming year’s festival will surely not disappoint! Festival attendees will have opportunities to view and purchase beautiful artistic shell creations like Sailor’s Valentines, jewelry, critters, and works of art. There will be shell experts that will give presentations, scientific booths about shells, live tanks with living mollusks, as well as a variety of books to purchase. The Sanibel Shell Club sponsors the Shell Show inside the Community House and includes both the Scientific Division and the Artistic Division.

The outdoor section of the festival includes shell arts & crafts, a kid’s tent, and educational talks. There will also be a raffle that will include prizes such as a weekend stay at a Captiva resort, a Sailor’s Valentine, original artwork, and many other great items. A $5 entry donation is requested to visit the inside shows and funds are used to supply grants to several local educational and conservation organizations and marine scholarships at both University of Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University.
