With the 2025 hurricane season now officially underway, Lee County has put out a helpful list of how you can secure your home just in case a hurricane lands this year.

Woman’s Club President Barb Mezeske will throw at the first pitch at the Mighty Muscles game this Thursday night at 7PM. Tickets are still available for the game at the Twins stadium. $5 from every ticket sold will be donated to the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club.

The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium has unveiled the opening of Phase 1 of its new Great Hall of Shells. The Great Hall of Shells has been the Museum's permanent exhibit space for shells since the Museum first opened in 1995.

Save the dates for two upcoming license-free fishing weekends hosted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. This summer's license-free fishing weekends are June 7-8 for saltwater and June 14-15 for freshwater.

Over the last week it became abundantly clear neither the Lee County Board of Elections or the Town of Fort Myers Beach had a clear grasp on the recall process. Recalling elected officials is rare and is mostly unsuccessful.

All 7 Lee County School Board members and School Superintendent Denise Carlin were invited to the special Town Council meeting Tuesday. None of them showed up.

(By Ellie Bunting) In 1937, parents on Fort Myers Beach came together to open a local school because they understood what research now confirms: neighborhood schools are the heart of a community.

On Monday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council will hold its second and final public hearing on the redevelopment of the Moss Marina property. The council voted to move the project onto the second hearing back on May 5th. If approved Monday, the project can proceed. 

The next Chamber of Commerce Coffee Connection Networking Breakfast is being held at Sweet Licks in Santini Plaza on Thursday, June 5th at 8AM. Sweet Licks will provide free coffee and breakfast items. The event is free but you need to REGISTER.

Thursday morning local media was given a tour of the new $38.5 million Lee County Public Safety Center by Public Safety Chief of Staff Dominick Boyd. A 10AM ribbon cutting was followed by tours given to members of the community.
