Santini Will Have a Hardware Store
Gavin's Ace Hardware has signed a contract with the owners of Santini Plaza and will be moving into the previous Sun Hardware store location in the plaza. They should be open in early 2025.
LPA To Stay The Same
John McLean, Don Sudduth, Doug Eckmann and Jim Dunlap were all reappointed to the Local Planning Agency by the Town Council on Monday. All four had been on the committee before being reappointed. Two other residents applied but did not make the cut.
Big Fishing Tournament Registration Opens
The 21st Annual Calusa Blueway Kayak Fishing Tournament returns to Lee County on Saturday, Nov. 9, with proceeds benefiting the Candlelighters of Southwest Florida, a charity that supports children with cancer or blood disorders and their families.
Beach Hosting Open Water Swim
The Southern Cross Open Water Swim is back and will be held at Lynn Hall Park on Fort Myers Beach Saturday, December 7th. Hurricane Ian postponed the event for the last 2 years. The swims include a 5K, 1 mile, the Annual Buoy Ball, and Sunday’s Mimosa Mile.

Pink Shell Reduces Size For New Proposed Hotel
After it was clear the owners of The Pink Shell properties on the north end of Fort Myers Beach were not getting much support for a new 8-story, 109 unit building with a 4-story parking garage last Summer, they’ve come back with a smaller proposal.

You may want to attend a special LPA meeting Tuesday at 9AM. LPA members will try to prioritize what public benefits a developer would bring to the table in order for the town to consider requests they are making above and beyond the town's Comprehensive Plan and LDC.
3 Restaurants Proposed For Sea Grape Plaza
Robbert Himmelstein, who owns the new furniture store being built in the old bank building in the Sea Grape Plaza, would also like to build a 3-story building that includes several restaurants and a roof-top bar.
Council Wants a Direct Answer From FEMA
At Monday’s Town Council meeting the Fort Myers Beach Town Attorney was directed to write a letter to FEMA showing support for businesses in trailers on the island and requesting FEMA give them a direct answer about their future.
One Third of Beach Residents Have Voted
According to the Lee County Elections office, just over 1,000 eligible voters on Fort Myers Beach have already voted. There are 3,351 registered voters on Fort Myers Beach.
Town Hires Beach School Principal
Dr. Traci Kohler has been hired by the Town of Fort Myers Beach as Executive Assistant to Town Manager Andy Hyatt. Kohler will officially retire as Principal of the Beach School on November 6th. She starts with the town on the 12th.
Farmers Market at Santini Plaza Starts Today
The 41 Markets Fort Myers Beach farmers market in Santini Plaza starting this weekend. The market is held every Friday and Saturday from 9A-1P. The market was being held in Times Square, however, damage from Hurricane Milton has made the area too dangerous.
