It started at Publix where we took a look inside to see empty shelves as the residents await the reopening of the much-needed Supermarket. We then walked through several neighborhoods in the area to check on the progress and out onto the beach for a quick look at several condos. The walkaround was sponsored by Jorge Barrera. Town Council Chooses Next Town Manager

Monday started with a meet-and-greet for the community to get to know the four finalists chosen by Interim Town Manager Keith Wilkins to fill the position of Fort Myers Beach Town Manager. It ended with Andrew Hyatt (pictured here) being offered the job.

It Was a Cat 5 On The Water

On Monday, the National Hurricane Center released its report on Hurricane Ian. One of the more noteworthy items from the report is the upgrade of the maximum intensity to a Category 5 (160 mph) before landfall. The landfall intensity in SW Florida is maintained as a Category 4 (155 mph).

1,839 Pounds of Trash Picked Up

The Keep Lee County Beautiful Great American Cleanup was Saturday. On Fort Myers Beach 49 volunteers cleaned up 1,839 pounds of trash and debris along Estero Boulevard and side streets near Santini Plaza.

Due to chlorine residual out of standard compliance levels, as a precaution, the town of Fort Myers Beach is advising that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes be boiled.
