A special course that teaches quick techniques to help save a life is being held at 820 Buttonwood Saturday from 8AM to 10AM. The goal of the free class is to better prepare the public to save lives if people nearby are severely bleeding.

Everyone living on Fort Myers Beach, especially mid-island to the south end is anticipating the re-opening of the businesses in Santini Plaza. The entire plaza was wrecked by Hurricane Ian. Last Saturday we got an update on which business are close to opening during our 8AM walkaround. WATCH IT

Mike and Dawn Miller, owners of The Whale on Fort Myers Beach, have confirmed to Beach Talk Radio that they are purchasing the Tuckaway Cafe at 2301 Estero Boulevard. The sale price was $3.1 million.

According to the Lee County Department of Transportation, the installation of a new traffic light on Estero Boulevard at Crescent Street just south of the Matanzas Pass Bridge is scheduled to start this week. The work should be completed by September.

As residents struggle through the steps of getting back into their homes on Fort Myers Beach, many business owners are also struggling with how - and where - to get their businesses back up and running.

Another favorite on Fort Myers Beach plans to rebuild. The owners of the Royal Beach Club, at 800 Estero Boulevard, voted "overwhelmingly" last week to rebuild. The Royal Beach Club, made up of Condo and Townhouse Units, was heavily damaged from Hurricane Ian.

Fort Myers Beach Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt wants to see boots on the ground every Tuesday cleaning the sidewalks up and down the entire 7-mile island.

This Friday from 1PM to Sunset the Pink Shell Resort & Marina will be hosting an event called Hello to Summer for the Fort Myers Beach Elementary PTO. The resort waived the day pass fee for the kids and staff, which includes access to the pool, beach chairs and lunch.

That's what state representative Adam Botana told the Fort Myers Beach Town Council Monday morning. Botana represents district 80 which includes Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, Estero and Bonita.
