If you missed episode #16 of Mondays With The Mayor last night we spent a lot of time discussing the joint LPA/Town Council meeting with Mayor Allers. During the 4-hour meeting the two governmental bodies discussed the rules that will be in place to rebuild commercial buildings and residential homes on Fort Myers Beach. WATCH IT.

Financial assistance through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program might be available for Fort Myers Beach property owners. The program helps both property owners and business owners rebuild homes.

Your New Sand Starts Arriving Today

Starting Monday, the Town of Fort Myers Beach will begin preparing for the emergency berm project by stockpiling sand on the property of the Wyndham Garden Inn at 6890 Estero Boulevard. 100 to 200 trucks will deliver sand every day.

La Ola Owner Was at Scene of Deadly Shooting

Thomas Houghton, who owns La Ola Restaurant on Fort Myers Beach, was in the parking lot of The Restaurant Depot Thursday when gunfire erupted. One person was killed in the shooting.

Town Replacing Street Signs

On Monday the Fort Myers beach Town Council voted to approve a $391,808 contract to replace street signs on the island. Nearly every street sign was dislodged, destroyed or washed away. In the weeks following the storm, residents created their own signs which have become the talk of the town.

The Work Has Begun To Reopen The 7-11’s

All four 7-11 locations on Fort Myers Beach were destroyed when Hurricane Ian smashed and battered the island. Two of the four locations sold gas which means residents have to drive between 3 and 10 miles, depending on where they live to get gas at Walmart.
