Lee County Parks & Recreation is transitioning its paid parking locations to a system that allows residents and visitors to pay by text, mobile app, through a website or at a kiosk. The change includes several locations on Fort Myers Beach.

During a special LPA meeting today, Times Square property owner Terry Persaud will ask the LPA to approve a plan to replace his lost restaurant with a 4 (perhaps 5) story building that includes a 50-room hotel. He’s requesting 8 deviations from the Land Development Code.

Will McKannay was the unanimous Town Council choice to replace the departing Andy Hyatt as Fort Myers Beach Town Manager back on Friday, April 18th. This week he agreed to contract terms with the town.

Florida Structural Group, a company several condo associations and property owners on Fort Myers Beach had hired to help them with building repairs after the recent hurricanes has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection.

The Fort Myers Beach Anchorage Advisory Committee and Marine Operations Team are hosting a celebration for boaters who use the Matanzas Pass Mooring Field. The public is invited to attend the event at Bayside Park this Sunday at 1PM. 

On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Chris King to the Fort Myers Beach Library Board. Chris is also chair of the Fort Myers Beach Anchorage Advisory Committee.

It’s an issue Fort Myers Beach Town Councilman John King wants the full Town Council to look into. King says, annexing San Carlos Island would give those residents greater say in local government. We spoke to several San Carlos island residents to get their reaction.

To commemorate Earth Day 2025 The Pink Shell Resort is hosting a beach cleanup at 7AM today. Volunteers can show up at the resort and let the parking attendants know you are there for the cleanup.
