The Fort Myers Beach town government has to move town hall to comply with FEMA regulations that require the temporary trailers they’ve been operating in to be removed. Starting June 17th all government operations will be functioning out of the Bay Oaks building.

Monofilament Cleanup A Big Success

Over 50 volunteers cleaned up thousands of feet of fishing line last weekend over on Sanibel during the 2025 Mind Your Line event. It was an island-wide 3-hour monofilament cleanup. The of the annual cleanup is to keep local waterways clean and safe for wildlife.

Beach Tax Rolls Up Slightly

Lee County Property Appraiser Matt Caldwell has released estimated tax roll figures for Fort Myers Beach for the 2025 tax year. After seeing a 40% increase in taxable value in 2024, the estimated increase for 2025 on the beach is only 3%.

CROW Breaking Ground on New Facility

The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its new, state-of-the-art Harkey Sea Turtle Complex. This facility will replace CROW’s original sea turtle rehabilitation center that was destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022.

The 2025 4th of July parade will begin at Bay Oaks at 9AM and continue down Estero Boulevard to Crescent Street. In order to get your float registered for the parade you must e-mail nmathes@fmbgov.com by June 27th.
