All 7 Lee County School Board members and School Superintendent Denise Carlin were invited to the special Town Council meeting Tuesday. None of them showed up.

(By Ellie Bunting) In 1937, parents on Fort Myers Beach came together to open a local school because they understood what research now confirms: neighborhood schools are the heart of a community.

On Monday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council will hold its second and final public hearing on the redevelopment of the Moss Marina property. The council voted to move the project onto the second hearing back on May 5th. If approved Monday, the project can proceed. 

The next Chamber of Commerce Coffee Connection Networking Breakfast is being held at Sweet Licks in Santini Plaza on Thursday, June 5th at 8AM. Sweet Licks will provide free coffee and breakfast items. The event is free but you need to REGISTER.

Thursday morning local media was given a tour of the new $38.5 million Lee County Public Safety Center by Public Safety Chief of Staff Dominick Boyd. A 10AM ribbon cutting was followed by tours given to members of the community.

The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Water Foundation has constructed a new Public Water Quality Monitoring Station at the Mound House on Connecticut Street on Fort Myers Beach.

Fort Myers Beach Mayor Dan Allers is back on the show at Wahoo Willie’s Sunday at 10AM. We’ll cover all the hot topics from the recall, to the new town hall to the latest on the Beach School. Arrive early to get a good seat. Wahoo Willie’s opens at 9AM.

The City of Sanibel is holding a hurricane seminar Friday from 1pm-3pm at BIG ARTS at 900 Dunlop Road. HJurricane season begins June 1st. 

The public is invited to attend an official ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Thursday at 2675 Ortiz Ave., for the unveiling of a 36,873 square-foot, $38.5 million two-story addition to the Lee County Public Safety Center.
