Next week is National Safe Boating Week and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is urging boaters to focus on simple steps that make boating safer. Florida is the number one state in the country for boating accidents.
Lee County Approves Funds For Water Testing
Lee County Commissioners have approved an agreement with FGCU for a water quality research project at the Boma site in Glades County to test methods for removal of nitrogen from the Caloosahatchee River surface waters in order to improve water quality.

Town Manager’s Evaluation Could Be Held in June
As stated in his contract, embattled town manager Roger Hernstadt is required to have his performance reviewed by the town council in a public meeting, as an agenda item, between February and May. While that did not happen, it looks like it may happen on June 7th.

Following the 2nd stakeholder's committee meeting last week, Town Lighting, the consultant company the town council is paying to put together a lighting plan for Estero Boulevard, will be making the rounds this week.

So far about 17% of the total needed to construct the Arch at Bowditch Park has been raised by the Restore The Arches organization. 47 Teams Participate in Tunaskin Event
49 fish were caught during Tunaskin's 1st Mid-May Mayhem Fishing Tournament this past Saturday. 47 teams of two participated in the event. The 49 fish caught (and released) were: 23 Trout, 20 Snook, 5 Whiting and 1 Ladyfish.
New Discovery Center is Now Open
