Lee County To Research Water Quality
This week Lee County Commissioners accepted a $180,000 Innovative Technologies Grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for a water quality and treatment research project.
Homeless Issue Not Addressed By Council
Several residents e-mailed in their concerns about the growing homeless problem on the beach. Mayor Murphy chose not to read the letters. At the same time the council was meeting, a few blocks away, a homeless man asked a resident for $100. Here's the video from that confrontation.
Myerside Decision Delayed
Following a marathon Fort Myers Beach Town Council meeting Monday, a final vote on whether to grant the owners of Myerside Resort two additional units, a restaurant that serves beer and wine, and a boutique store for guests was delayed two weeks. The issue was discussed and debated for over 6 hours.

As you may have heard on Beach Talk Radio this past Saturday, Paul Demello spoke about his foundation Just Against Children Drowning. JACD also stands for Joshua And Christian Demello, Paul’s twin sons who drowned in a swimming pool when they were 13 months old back in 2010.
Bayside To Be Discussed Again For Upland Services
Members of the Anchorage Advisory Committee have been pressuring the Fort Myers Beach town council to take another look at Bayside Park for upland services after negotiations ended with The Harbor House. The Council has decided to discuss the issue again.
Beach Being Invaded By Rats
That's what Vice Mayor Rexann Hosafras told her fellow council members Monday afternoon. She said she's seen more rats on her street and has heard from other beach residents who've also said the rat population is exploding.
