Commissioners Approve Two Sanibel Causeway Contracts
Lee County Commissioners have awarded two contracts for ongoing improvements to the Sanibel Causeway. The $8.5 million project began July 12th with the removal of Australian Pines, an invasive exotic species.

Get The Vaccine At The Pink Shell Today
The Lee Health Mobile Vaccination Clinic is making stops around Southwest Florida this week to vaccinate kids 12 years and older for COVID-19. Today the mobile clinic will be on Fort Myers Beach at the Pink Shell from 12-4PM. There is no cost for the vaccine which will be Pfizer.

Lake Okeechobee. She’s Complicated.
(By Ed Ryan) For anyone who didn't understand just how complicated managing Lake Okeechobee is, they do now. That is, if they attended the Sanibel Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Pink Shell on Fort Myers Beach Wednesday to hear a presentation by Army Corps of Engineers Colonel Andrew Kelly.
Despite Elsa, Turtle Season Looking Strong
Turtle Time tells us that on Fort Myers Beach there are now 86 nests - all loggerheads. The first generation of nests were negatively affected by Tropical Storm Elsa. Very few of the early nests survived although a couple of the nests that were deposited in the dunes did survive.
Mound House Repairs Approved
On Monday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council approved $47,730 worth of repairs to the historic structure. The repairs need to be done to prevent further rot and damage to the building.
