Ding Darling Fees Increase
As of October 1st the entry fees for the J.N Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge in Sanibel have increased. The daily entry fee for vehicles will be $10 (up from $5) and the Refuge Annual pass will be $25 (up from $12). The biker and hiker fee of $1 stays the same.
Sanibel Extends Mask Mandate
The City of Sanibel Town Council has been meeting on a weekly basis to re-evaluate its COVID-19 State of Emergency. The council is meeting tonight to approve its 2021 budget. Prior to the meeting Mayor Kevin Ruane extended the State of Emergency for another 7 days.
Negotiations Underway
As we reported last week, the team at TPI was expecting a financing term sheet to fund the construction that will lead to the Margaritaville resort on Fort Myers Beach. That term sheet was received and the two sides are now negotiating.
Is The Mask Mandate Still Valid?
When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Florida was moving into Phase 3 last Friday his Executive Order also suspended all outstanding fines and penalties, including any fines moving forward, related to COVID-19 on individuals. His order did not mention fines on businesses. So how does impact Fort Myers Beach?
Florida COVID Cases Lowest Since June
Florida health officials say there were fewer than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases between Sunday and Monday. There were 738 cases in the state on Monday. You have to go back to early June to find a day with less than 1,000 reported cases.

Mound House Opening Back Up
As of October the 6th The Mound House on Fort Myers Beach will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9AM to 4PM. The facility has been closed due to COVID-19.
Free Masks and Hand Sanitizer on Sanibel
The City of Sanibel received an allotment of COVID Personal Protective Equipment from Lee County and is distributing the items Wednesday and Thursday. From 11A-5P hand sanitizer and masks will be given out at The Community House (2173 Periwinkle Way) via drive-thru, contactless pickup.
Chamber Breakfast at Tuckaway This Thursday
The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting its October Coffee Connection meeting on the 1st at The Tuckaway Cafe on Estero Boulevard. The free 7:30A-9:00A networking event will include complimentary coffee and breakfast goodies from owners Amy and Tre Gillette.

Meeting Being Held Today To Address The Homeless
