C.R.O.W. Announces Virtual Speaker Series

The 2021 C.R.O.W. Speaker Series will all be hosted on Zoom due to COVID-19. Advanced registration is required HERE. Presentations begin at 4:00pm, last approximately one hour, and will cover topics including Saving Florida's Wildlife Corridor, Why Snakes Are Important and Living With Burrowing Owls.

Lee County Launches COVID Reservation System

The Florida Department of Health and Lee County government have launched a reservation system and a new, larger site for free COVID-19 vaccinations for frontline healthcare workers and those 65 and older. Vaccinations resume today at a new site east of I-75 off of Daniels Parkway. It’s the site of the old airport terminal parking lot.

Captains Releases Annual Impact Report

Lawsuits in Lani Kai Murder Moving Forward

While the Lee County Sheriff has not yet announced an arrest in the July 2020 murder of Johnny Jackson at the Lani Kai Motel on Fort Myers Beach, two lawsuits that resulted from the incident are moving forward.

Mission Accomplished…Earlier Than Expected

Lee County has replaced 6000 tons of beach sand that washed away along 600 linear feet in Lynn Hall Park on Fort Myers Beach during Tropical Storm ETA. The $200,000 emergency project was completed earlier than planned. The money came from Lee County’s $4.7 million beach re-nourishment trust fund.

Beach Kids Foundation Helps 54 Families

Despite being unable to host their annual Spirit of the Holiday fundraiser and dinner due to COVID-19, the Fort Myers Beach Kids Foundation received enough donations during the holidays to deliver Christmas presents and bikes to 54 families. The Fort Myers Beach Fire Department was on hand to help with the deliveries.
