Seagate Will Not Be On Monday’s Agenda
The 2nd reading for the Segate/Red Coconut proposal has been pulled from the Town Council’s Monday agenda. For the second time the town is rescheduling Segate’s public hearing. In fact, the town is now going to hold two more public hearings for the project.

New Pink Shell Project Tabled
After a presentation that took several hours during the LPA meeting Tuesday, the new Pink Shell 40-unit resort proposal was tabled until December. The reason was to give staff more time to review late arriving documents that were not in the Pink Shell’s original proposal.
LPA Unanimously Approves New Neptune
Continental Hospitality Group took a lot of grief for not cleaning up their property at 2316/2320 Estero Boulevard, but in the end they received unanimous approval for their new 6-story 148-unit resort.

Art of Nature Festival is Saturday
The Ostego Bay Foundation is hosting its 2024 Art of Nature Festival this Saturday from 9AM to 2PM at The Estero Island Historical Society at 161 Bay Road on Fort Myers Beach. The event is an opportunity for artists to showcase the beauty of nature.
Bank Names Beach Branch Manager
Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has hired Debbie Mooneyham as the manager for its upcoming branch on Fort Myers Beach, which is expected to open in 2026. Earlier this year SanCap purchased a .41 acre piece of land at 2670/2680 Estero Boulevard across from the Library.
How Will The Town Define Public Benefit?
When town staff considers whether to recommend approval or denial to the LPA and Town Council they have no idea how to apply public benefit the developer may be offering in their recommendation. Public benefit is very subjective and the town has yet to clearly define what public benefits they want.
The Town Council Remains The Same
This election was being touted as faster growth (Scott) vs. anti-big-building (Greg). In the end, Fort Myers Beach voters decided they were happy with Scott Safford’s performance since he was appointed 9 months ago and now he’ll serve a full 4-year term.
