The Fort Myers Beach LPA meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, September 10th was canceled this week due to the lack of time for the town staff to be fully prepared to make a recommendation. Seagate's Red Coconut proposal was expected to be on the agenda.Â

The second annual Revive The Vibe event will be held on September 14th on Fort Myers Beach. Beach Talk Radio will broadcast live from the event right outside Wahoo Willie’s.Â
The Book Nook is So Close to Opening
The Book Nook may be the first business to reopen in Santini Plaza since Hurricane Ian did significant damage to the entire building. Some businesses in Santini will never return while others are working on their units hoping to be back. Book Nook owner Annette Stillson needs volunteers next week.
Monofilament Madness is Back
Keep Lee County Beautiful is holding their annual marine cleanup on October 26th on Fort Myers Beach to fight against marine debris. The cleanup is named Monofilament Madness for its focus on the monofilament fishing line which is discarded or left especially in the mangrove areas.

EIBC Clears First Hurdle Toward Rebuild
The Estero Island Beach Club on Estero Boulevard, which was totally destroyed by Hurricane Ian nearly two years ago, was approved by the Fort Myers Beach Local Planning Agency Tuesday by a vote of 5-2. It’s now on to the Town Council.

That’s the question LPA Chair Anita Cereceda wants her committee and the Town Council to discuss in another joint meeting. Cereceda said that while she loved the EIBC project she just couldn’t get past the height (10 stories) and voted no.
Town Awarded $13 Million in CDBG-DR Funds
The Town of Fort Myers Beach has been notified that the applications submitted to the Lee County Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Infrastructure and Public Facilities Programs has been awarded for a total of $13 million.
