It took several days but it was strong and clear. Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno issued a statement on Monday calling the allegations of money laundering and misappropriating funds made by his political opponent all lies.

There are now 6 Fort Myers Beach residents who’ve applied for the 4 open seats on the Local Planning Agency. Curlew street resident Tyler Spradling is the latest Fort Myers Beach resident to apply for the LPA.

Church of The Ascension Submits Rebuild Plan

Last week representatives from the Church of The Ascension on Fort Myers Beach submitted a site plan to rebuild the church that was located at 6025 Estero Boulevard. The Church was ripped apart by Hurricane Ian two years ago.

Comprehensive Plan Conundrum

As we reported earlier this week, an ordinance to approve changes to the FMB Comprehensive Plan was pulled from the Town Council’s agenda so a joint LPA/Council meeting could be set to discuss the document further. Since that happened plans have changed again.

Library Board Votes To Lower Millage Rate

At its first budget public hearing this week the Fort Myers Beach Library Board voted unanimously to lower the millage rate to .1612 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
