Your Taxes Cannot Go Up 26%
When the Fort Myers Beach Town Council meets to approve its final 2026 budget Wednesday night, a 26% tax increase is no longer on the table. Apparently the Town Attorney has changed her mind as to whether the council can go back up to that higher increase after the conclusion of the first public hearing.

Temporary Placement Permits that were issued by the town after Hurricane Ian to help get residents back in their homes and business owners back on their feet expire today. Â
Recall Election Ballot is Set
The Fort Myers Beach recall election ballot is set. The noon Monday deadline to qualify passed with no additional names on the Superviser of Elections being submitted other than the three we reported on last week.

Be Alert at The Bridge Starting Today
The Florida Department of Transportation has announced that starting Tuesday at 10AM the new traffic signal at the intersection of Fifth Street and San Carlos Boulevard (at the base of the bridge on the Margaritaville side) will begin flashing yellow.
2026 Putt and Pub Expands to 12 Locations
The Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club’s 14th Annual Putt & Pub fundraiser is Saturday, January 17, 2026. New this year: The Putt & Pub course is expanding to 12 holes.
Senator Scott’s Staff Coming To The Beach
Staff from U.S. Senator Rick Scott's office are coming to Fort Myers Beach to help residents who may have issues or questions related to federal agencies. The mobile town hall is Friday, October 17th from 11AM to 1PM at the new town hall building (6231 Estero Blvd).
Lobbyist Contract To Be Renewed
On Wednesday morning the Fort Myers Beach Town Council is expected to renew the contract of lobbyist Ron Book. Book has been lobbying in Tallahassee for Fort Myers Beach since 2017.

Town Hit With Another Development Lawsuit
David Tezak and his mother Helen have filed a 49-page complaint with the 20th Judicial Circuit Court in Lee County to try to stop the construction of a Food Truck Park on Estero Boulevard. The Tezaks live on Chapel Street which is located behind the proposed park.
