Perhaps seeing the writing on the wall with the direction the Lee County School Board is heading with the closing of the Beach School, Fort Myers Beach Chamber President Jacki Liszak sent out a recently passed resolution from the Chamber Board in favor of keeping the school open.Â

County To Clamp Down on Smoking, Vaping
The Lee County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to schedule a public hearing for June 17th to consider amending an ordinance and prohibit smoking and vaping at county parks and beaches. The county owns Lynn Hall Park and Bowditch on Fort Myers Beach.
Arches Project Approved
On Monday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council voted 4-1 to approve the redevelopment of the Moss Marina property. The Freeland Group plans to redevelop 5 acres of land into 3 resort structures with 263 rooms that are 5,6 and 7 stories high.
Salty Crab One Vote Away From Final Approval
By a vote of 5-0 the Fort Myers Beach Town Council voted to move the new Salty Crab building proposal onto a 2nd public hearing. If council approves the project at the next hearing owner Greg Powers plans to break ground later this year.
EIBC Also One Vote Away From Final Approval
On Monday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council voted unanimously to move the Estero Island Beach Club rebuild proposal onto a 2nd reading on June 16th. The 75-unit time-share building, destroyed by Hurricane Ian, was converted from a motel back in 1981.
Ebikes Are Now Allowed on Sidewalks
The Fort Myers Beach Town Council has voted to change its ordinance and will now allow ebikes on town sidewalks. Council members are hoping riders use common sense while riding close to pedestrians. It's going to be nearly impossible to enforce.
Here’s Who Will Review The FMB Charter
Bryan Thomas, Ed Schoonover, Jim Dunlap, Henry Zuba and Bev Milligan have been appointed to review the Fort Myers Beach Charter. The town reviews the charter every ten years.Â
