That’s the message from the Fort Myers Beach Town Council as we close in on the third anniversary of Hurricane Ian. If you live in a camper on your property the clock is ticking.

Lee County owns the Matanzas Pass Preserve, which is located behind the Estero Island Historical Society on Bay Road. The Preserve has been closed since the boardwalk was heavily damaged by Hurricane Ian in September 2022.

The Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup is Saturday, March 29th from 8AM to 10AM at multiple locations across Lee County. There are three Fort Myers Beach locations; The Beach Elementary School, Bowditch Beach and, Lynn Hall Park. 

Seagate’s plan to redevelop the 52-acre former Red Coconut property with 5 buildings, including two 17-story structures could now be delayed as a court challenge to the town’s approval of the process has officially been filed. 

With current Town Manager Andy Hyatt expected to leave on April 30th, he, along with Fort Myers Beach Human Resources Director Talissa Oliveira are closing in on finalists for the Town Council to look at to replace him.

On Sunday during our interview with Town Manager Andy Hyatt both he and Mayor Dan Allers announced that the town is looking into whether or not they are legally able to knock down Terry Persaud’s Fresh Catch building.

The 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, hosted by the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club, is this Saturday at 10AM. Beach Talk Radio will broadcasts the parade live from the CVS parking lot.
