At a special board meeting Monday, Lee County staff plans to recommend the millage rate for fiscal year 2025-2026 stay the same as 2024-2025. The current Lee County millage rate is 3.7623 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

As Town Manager Will McKannay stated Sunday on Beach Talk Radio, a proposal to raise the millage rate on Fort Myers Beach residents is coming. Now we know what the proposed increase is that he’ll be requesting next Monday.

Town Manager Will McKannay brought that good news to Beach Talk Radio Sunday when he appeared on the show with Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt. McKannay says he’s seen the drawings for the new church and they are “absolutely gorgeous.”

As we reported last week, FEMA's recent visit resulted in a list of 252 Fort Myers Beach properties that the town needs to address by August 8th. Originally the town had advised the community residents could not call Town Hall to see if they were on the list. That has now changed.
