On Tuesday the Lee County Board of Commissioners is expected to approve a contract with Stokes Marine for repairs to 3 boardwalks the county owns including the Matanzas Pass Preserve.

Lee County Domestic Animal Services is partnering with NBCUniversal Local’s 11th annual Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign throughout the month of August. The event includes a waived adoption fee event on Saturday, Aug. 23. 

Lee County’s Clerk and Comptroller Kevin Karnes and Property Appraiser Matt Caldwell are hosting a class on the property assessment and dispute process Thursday, Aug. 7 from 2-3 p.m. at the Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library.

The annual Beerfoot Beach 7-on-7 Rugby Tournament returns to Crescent Beach Park tomorrow with games slated to kick-off at 8:40AM. The event is organized by The Naples Hammerhead Rugby Team. We'll show you the event during our Saturday morning walkaround. 

As Town Manager Will McKannay stated Sunday on Beach Talk Radio, a proposal to raise the millage rate on Fort Myers Beach residents is coming. Now we know what the proposed increase is that he’ll be requesting next Monday.

Town Manager Will McKannay brought that good news to Beach Talk Radio Sunday when he appeared on the show with Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt. McKannay says he’s seen the drawings for the new church and they are “absolutely gorgeous.”

As we reported last week, FEMA's recent visit resulted in a list of 252 Fort Myers Beach properties that the town needs to address by August 8th. Originally the town had advised the community residents could not call Town Hall to see if they were on the list. That has now changed. 

On Saturday, Delmar resident Ron Fleming gave us a tour of his street and showed us all the beautiful new house and quaint cottages that make Fort Myers Beach so great. It's a great way to see all the progress being made since Hurricane Ian.
