There’s a joint Fort Myers Beach Town Council and Local Planning Agency meeting Thursday at 9AM. There is only one agenda item: The Fort Myers Beach Comprehensive Plan and the community feedback the town received during several outreach meetings about the document.

Here are several highlights town staff identified from those outreach meetings with the community:

• Preserving the small-town feel and sense of community
• Enhancing parks, addressing traffic issues, and protecting natural/cultural assets like the
beach and the Mound House
• Concerns about the height and size of future development
• A desire for expanded restaurant options and medical facilities

Any changes made to the Comprehensive Plan must be approved by the Town Council and sent to the state of Florida for approval.

We will carry that meeting live at 9AM on our Facebook page and YouTube Channel.

  1. Attention LPA and Town Council members. Pay strict attention to the next to the last highlite. This is the item that has caused much dissenting among residents, such as recall. FMB was founded because of the height of Diamond head. Places significantly set back from Estero Blvd can probably accommodate higher buildings than those close to it. Think Ocean Harbor Condos
