Town Manager Andy Hyatt announced at the Town Council meeting Monday that an anonymous donor will be contributing to the funds needed for fireworks to be held on Fort Myers Beach this New Years Eve.

More details will be released soon about the event, however, Hyatt said the fireworks will most likely be lit off on a barge in the Gulf. Fort Myers Beach has not had a fireworks event since before the storm.

In previous years there had been fireworks on July 4th and New Years Eve at a cost of about $20,000 to $25,000 with the shows lasting about 20 minutes. It’s unclear at the moment if the donation was for the full amount of the cost of the fireworks or for the full amount.

  1. Mangos was great, but it can’t compare to all the crazy memories on the top of Sandal Factory- via the back stairs at La Ola! Our own lil’ V.I.P. area!
I’m so happy we can make some new ones this year! I will be front and center on New Years, at La Ola at times square this year to finally make some new memories with my co-workers and friends! Thank you anonymous donor!

  2. Nothing was like the view from our second floor for the fireworks at Mango Rita’s. We had the best view. One day an even better view will be had from whatever the Time Square area becomes. It will be great to see.

  3. What will be the logistic of where to launch the fireworks?
The end of the pier was always the site for safety.
