Have You Made FEMA’s New Naughty List?

As we reported last week, FEMA’s recent visit resulted in a list of 252 Fort Myers Beach properties that the town needs to address by August 8th. Originally the town had advised the community residents could not call Town Hall to see if they were on the list. That has now changed.
As Town Manager Will McKannay said on Beach Talk Radio Sunday, you CAN now ask the Town of Fort Myers Beach if your property is on the FEMA list.
On Monday the town issued a press release with more details. “Property owners who wish to verify whether their address is included in the FEMA Community Assistance Visit findings may now submit a request through the Town. Please note that individual property addresses will not be publicly released; however, owners may inquire specifically about their own property. To request this information, please contact the Town at FEMACAV@fmbgov.com with your name, property address, and proof of ownership (copy of a current utility bill).”
The entire list of properties is not a public document.

  1. I would definitely hope that any homeowner on the list would be notified by the town that they are on the list. If they aren’t notified, then some may never know they’re on the list, and those properties will never be fixed, causing the loss of the 25% discount. By letting the “offenders” know, that will get them to fix their properties, as well as free up the town employees from dealing with a possible influx of inquiries from residents
