The battle over masks is heating up, especially in schools. Despite the Governor’s Executive Order prohibiting mask mandates, the Lee County school district is requiring masks, but giving parents the option to opt-out.
Today at noon, Lee Health is hosting a press conference on how to keep kids safe as they had back to school.
Lee Health leaders and frontline medical personal will be available to answer questions and speak about what they are seeing with COVID-19 in Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
Four local Dr’s will take questions at the press conference:
· Dr. Larry Antonucci, Lee Health President and CEO
· Dr. Stephanie Stovall, Interim Chief Quality and Safety Officer
· Dr. Salomon Abitbol, pediatric hospitalist
· Dr. Alfredo Vargas, pediatric emergency room physician
The Lee County School District notified parents masks will be required just days before the first day of school. Principals at each school will be responsible to enforce the mask requirement. The form to opt-out of the mask requirement can be found HERE.
