The much-anticipated reopening of businesses in Santini Plaza is on the mind of so many Fort Myers Beach residents and visitors. Here’s what we found from Santini Plaza Property Manager Sharon Magowan as of this past weekend.

Unfortunately they do not have a date for the first business to reopen yet. Sharon tells Beach Talk Radio News that they are finishing the exterior painting this week and that permitting and FPL have really held them up.

She’s hopeful they can start handing out keys to some of the businesses by end of this month or beginning of October. And adds, “It shouldn’t take retail long to open, the restaurants will take longer, having to replace equipment. The stores can open individually when they are ready.”

Sharon also says they are waiting for parking lot lights to be approved, irrigation and landscaping to be completed and then the driveway will be sealed and striped.

  1. I am coming back to Estero Beach and Tennis in April. Will anything be open by then? We loved being able to walk over there a couple times a week for drinks and dinner 😀

  2. It is now December 19 – how about another update re restaurant reopenings? We can’t come back and stay at EBT across the street till we have places to eat! Thank you.

  4. While the Town Board may be doing the best they can manage a myriad of issues, the timely inspection and rapid issuance of required permits is essential to moving forward. The current demand can only accelerate. The Board must immediately arrange for assistance beyond the capabilities and/or normal protocols to meet this challenge. Our economic and social survival depend on their timely action.

  5. This is a chicken or the egg situation. People won’t rent or come back until there’s something other than sand to come back to. Facilities don’t want to open until there’s people to support them. So the more heads up Santini provides the better it is for everyone. Continued postponement only feeds the problem.
