Between the years of 2019 and 2024 the Lee County Metropolitan Organization reports that there have been 556 accidents on the streets of Fort Myers Beach. There were 156 injuries in those crashes and 3 deaths.
According to the latest stats from the MPO, 40% of the crashes were rear-enders, 5.2% involved a pedestrian, 2.3% involved a bicyclist and 6.8% involved alcohol. 77% of the crashes took place during the day and 93% took place on a clear day.
The months with the most crashes, which you can see in the chart below are February and March. That aligns with the busy season on Fort Myers Beach with January, February and March being the busy season on the island.
