Anita Cereceda, Jane Plummer, and James Boan were all reappointed to the Local Planning Agency Monday. The seats are all 2-year terms. Council members John King and Karen Woodson did not vote for Cereceda. King and Woodson voted for Ed Schoonover who did not receive enough votes to be appointed.Â
Members are appointed, in a public vote, by the Town Council. The Local Planning Agency is a state-mandated committee of 7 that makes recommendations to the Town Council on planning and zoning issues. In recent years, they’ve been the first set of eyes on all of the major rebuild projects following Hurricane Ian.
Like Town Council members, LPA members are permitted to meet individually with developers and residents who may come before them. They must disclose those meetings to the public whenever an applicant comes before them. Florida’s Sunshine Law also applies to LPA members so they are not permitted to discuss any business outside a public meeting that may come before them.

Thank Goodness … !!!!
Finally – responsible, logical and truly committed caring individuals for the vision and future of this little Island !!
Latest jab from Council –
50% increase to Town Attorney = $450,000/yr unanimous decision — 5 Votes !!
No negotiationg !!
These people are INSANE !!!
Shame on King and Woodson. I hope Anita runs for TC in the next election.
Seems John and Karen don’t like anyone supporting an organization like Protect FMB that challenges their decisions. They need to remember that Protect FMB is following the legitimate path to challenge the Seagate approval. This is a distinctly different approach than taken by the recall. In John’s recent interview on BTR, he seemed to group both activities together or at least that’s the way it seemed to me.
Grateful to have sanity prevail –
The LPA has been a beacon of light and hope for the town.
Thank you Anita and the 3 Town Council members who supported the LPA-
King and Woodson sealed their fate on the recall,OUT! King stays only if the judge rules in his favor. Woodson doesn’t have a chance
Yay! BRAVO Anita! One of the few who serve on the LPA/Town Council who makes decisions with the rights of residents and residential property owners also in mind by following the Comp Plan. She has served this community well for a long time and benefited this town far more than Woodson or King have or will ever do! Not surprised they voted against her. Remember to vote folks! Recall results should be interesting!!
Hurray for the reappointments! These people care about, understand and work diligently to advance FMB’s rebuild in accordance with the Land Development Code and Comp Plan. Bravo, Anita!
