This past Saturday, Lovers Key State Park opened its brand new Welcome and Discovery Center. The day brought visitors to explore the Exhibit Hall filled with information exhibits about the park’s history, wildlife and different natural habitats.
Lovers Key State Park Manager Katie Moses said, “This project finally came to fruition after almost 10 years of planning and fundraising, and it is so incredible to now open the center to the public. The center will be a centralized location where park visitors can get more information about the park, discover all the park has to offer and attend a variety of programs and workshops in the Community Room.”
Many park visitors were also able to meet and paint sea grape leaves with the park’s Resident Artist, Jenny Licht. Our Artist in Residence is a new program we are launching with the opening of the Welcome & Discovery Center. This exciting new program will launch several programs and initiatives for visitors to connect to the park and nature through art.
Regular hours for the Discovery Center are Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm
