The Lee County Sheriff’s department will be more visible on Fort Myers Beach. A new Outreach Center opened on Wednesday with Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno cutting the ribbon to the new facility on Estero Boulevard.

The goal of having the outreach center is to get beach residents more engaged with the Sheriff’s department. Services will include drug and alcohol awareness, bike safety and Interaction with community.

Fort Myers Beach Councilman Dan Allers made the big push for the Outreach Center which was turned from a vacant building to a finished product in weeks thanks to his connections and help from Jacki Liszak at the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Volunteers and local businesses donated their time, services and supplies to clean up the building and remodel it to make it functional for the needs of the Sheriff’s department. TPI owns the land which will be part of the Margaritaville reconstruction when that project gets rolling.

The center will be open 7 days per week from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The telephone number is 239-292-2443.
