Ajax construction has completed the new traffic light at the corners of Old San Carlos and Estero Boulevards near Times Square earlier than expected. The light will flash red until Wednesday to help alert drivers that the light is now working.
The hope is the new light will keep traffic and pedestrians flowing smoothly at an extremely busy intersection. At times there had been an LCSO deputy directed traffic and pedestrians during busy weekends during season.
The Old San Carlos and Estero light is one of several new lights to be installed in the downtown area over the next several years to help move traffic as quickly and safely as possible.
