After a canceled fireworks celebration last year due to COVID, it appears the Town of Fort Myers Beach is moving forward with a 2021 New Years Eve fireworks celebration. The town will be opening bids from potential fireworks vendors today at 2:15PM.
Both the 2020 4th of July and New Years Eve Fireworks celebrations were canceled by the town to avoid large crowd gatherings.
The town considered using a barge for the event on New Years Eve but eventually wound canceling the event and storing the fireworks it had purchased earlier in the year. Those fireworks were used for the 4th of July in 2021
