On August 18th Col. James Polk and Tim Gysan from the Army Corps will join Friends of the Everglades’ Policy Director Gil Smart for a live discussion moderated by Executive Director Eve Samples. The topic will be LOSAM.
For over three years, Friends of the Everglades has advocated for a better Lake Okeechobee management plan — one that prioritizes public health and prevents toxic-algae crises. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers LOSAM plan is an improvement but not a cure-all, according to Friends of the Everglades.
The live conversation will include how the northern estuaries, southern Everglades and Lake Okeechobee will be impacted. It will be streamed directly on Facebook and YouTube from 2 – 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 18.
